“If you are a private poet, then your vocabulary is limited by your obsessions. It doesn’t bother me that the word ‘stone’ appears more than thirty times in my third book, or that ‘wind’ and ‘gray’ appear over and over in my poems to the disdain of some reviewers. If I didn’t use them that often I’d be lying about my feelings, and I consider that unforgivable. In fact, most poets write the same poem over and over.”—Richard Hugo (via squishysandwich)
i am going to start taking violin lessons again. when i was a kid i took violin lessons, but i abandoned it. i always felt a bit of regret over quitting.
anyway, learning to play the violin is something i am now serious about. i know i will never become great or even good by any means, but i can learn and play and improve and hopefully someday become a decent amateur.
i am renting a violin while i save my money to buy a violin kit. i’m feeling pretty thrilled about taking lessons again, but after the thrill there must be discipline & dedication!!
